Early Mid-Autumn color at D5’s ‘lantern street’

There are still three more weeks to the Mid-Autumn festival which falls on September 30 or the 15th day of the eighth lunar month. But Saigonese are rushing down to ‘lantern street’, namely Luong Nhu Hoc in District 5 to admire the beauty of sparkling lanterns in different shapes and colors. The colorful lanterns help children celebrate this special day by holding lanterns and singing songs as they walk around the neighborhood and savor moon-cake with friends and families. According to some lantern shop owners at Luong Nhu Hoc Street, this year there have been large amounts of visitors to the street but only a few of them are actually buying lanterns… there is still plenty of time.

Here are some photos taken at lantern street by The Saigon Times Daily’s contributor Trong Duy.
