The second Ho Chi Minh City – 100 Exciting Things campaign to promote the city’s image and tourism is underway.
According to the organizers, the city’s Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism and association of tourism, a voting phase will run through July 30 on both paper, available for tourists and experts at city tourism spots, and online.
There are 20 categories this year, double the number of the first campaign in 2010, but each has only fivechoicescomparedto 10earlier.
The categories include 5 Interesting Tourism Events, 5 Interesting Art Performance Locations, 5 Favorite Southern Delicacies, 5 Favorite Types of Fruit, 5 Attractive Architectures, and 5 Typical Markets.Each category has a list of requirements.
The organizers,ata pressconferencelast December, received
complaints that many categories have ambiguous requirements as well as similar criteria.
The city People’s Committee said that in the first five months of this year more than 1.5 million foreign touristsarrived,10percent higher than in the same period of last year.
