Can Gio, a coastal district of HCMC which is about 50 kilometers to the southeast of the city is an ideal weekend destination for family and friends to have an outing.
This land which was heavily poisoned during the Vietnam War is now an eco-tourist site with wildlife and diverse flora and immense mangrove forests.
Visitors can take part in numerous activities. For those who love to discover nature could try visiting the mangrove swamp or monkey island where a thousand monkeys live. Or just stay on the beach to enjoy fresh seafood, cool off to the sea breezes or chase after snails and crabs on the sand. Despite the black water caused by alluvium the beach here is perfect for tourists to swim.
Two three-star resorts have recently opened, attracting more international travelers who want a short tour from HCMC
