Like the Notre Dame Cathedral in HCMC, Chanh Toa Church, known locally as “the stone church” in the coastal city of Nha Trang is a popular destination for tourists, photographers, film makers and wedding couples.
Built in 1933 by a French Catholic priest the church is a place of prayer and relaxation.
“My friends had very nice pictures taken here, that’s why we came,” a bride having her wedding photos taken says.
The hilltop church has a 32 meter bell and clock tower and a lot of stained glass windows.
There are two paths leading to the church. The first one in front of the church has 53 stone steps, starting from Thai Nguyen Street, and the second is a stone path from the city square to the yard behind the church. In front of the church is a cave with a statute of Mother Maria where a lot of Catholic followers and visitors come to pray. The church opens from 4:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 9: 00 p.m.
