HA NOI — Beautiful and talented Vietnamese citizens and young women with Vietnamese roots are invited to compete in the second edition of the Miss Viet Nam World 2010 this summer.
Co-organised by Viet Nam Television (VTV) and the Vinpearlland Tourist Joint Stock Company, the pageant aims to honour the beauty and talent of modern Vietnamese women. It also hopes to promote the image of friendly Vietnamese people, a peaceful landscape and rich culture to people all over the world.
The event is also expected to connect Vietnamese people from communities in the country and abroad.
The first rounds will be held in the northern mountainous province of Tuyen Quang, Ha Noi, Hue, Can Tho and HCM City.
First round selections will also be organised in the US, the UK, South Korea and Russia in June.
The luxury Vinpearl Land Resort & Spa in the central coastal city of Khanh Hoa will host the pageant’s final round, which will take place from August 10-21.
The winner will wear the crown and take home a VND500 million (US$26,000) prize – the biggest-ever for a beauty contest in Viet Nam. The first and second runners up will receive VND300 million and VND200 million prizes, respectively.
Other titles, including Miss Photogenic, Miss Ao Dai, Miss Sports, Beach Beauty, Audience Favourite, Most Beautiful Evening Gown and Best Answer, will also be awarded.
Le Khac Hiep, a member of the organising board, said information about the beauty contest would be aired widely in national media.
“The international channel VTV4 is another effective tool to spread the word about the pageant,” he said.
In the first Miss Viet Nam World held in 2007, the 20-year-old Vietnamese citizen Ngo Phuong Lan was crowned the winner. At that time, she was an International Relations student in Switzerland.
Applications will be accepted from April 25 to May 20 at the pageant office, 7th floor, Tower B Vincom, 191 Ba Trieu Street, Ha Noi.
