Five new hotels, including four five-star facilities, are expected to open in Hanoi this year as the capital city is preparing for its millennium anniversary in October.
The new hotels, including the Hanoi Plaza, Keangnam Vina and Crowne Plaza Hanoi, will add another 2,000 rooms to the city’s supply.
There are now 213 hotels with a total 9,968 rooms in Hanoi. The average occupancy rate dropped 21.7 percent last year to only 55.41 percent as the global economic slump took its toll on the local tourism industry.
Occupancy rates are expected to surge this year as the capital city aims to attract more foreign tourists for its 1,000th anniversary.
